Grenade

                                                                                                                                                                              Alan Gratz's Grenade is about a Okinawan boy named Hideki and an american soldier named Ray, who is attacking Okinawa during world war 2. Hideki was part of the IJA, (imperial Japanese army) deffending Okinawa. Hideki is given two grenades and told to kill the american solders with them.  while Ray and his team are invading Okinawa, hidiki and Ray run into each other and the fate of one of them depends on what they do next.
