Hey, Kiddo

Hey, Kiddo by Jarrett J. Krosocza is about the author's life. As a young boy, his mother was in and out of rehab centers, and he was so young and had no idea what was going on. As he started to grow up though, he realized his mother was a heroine addict, and she had been from a very young age. His father was nowhere to be found, and never had been, so he spent most of his life with his grandparents.

Would you want to see what happens after you die?

Image result for ghost boysYou're just playing with a toy gun in the park, then your gone, shot by a police officer that claims you were big, scary, and he felt attacked, you barely noticed he was there. The book Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes is about a 12-year-old boy named Jerome that is shot and watches watch happens after he dies. No one can see him, not his family, not the police officer, not the judge, no one but the police officers daughter. I would recommend this to anyone that has had someone close to them pass away, wants to see the true difference between where we live and other people live. I would 100% percent rate this 5 out of 5 stars.

Imagine living somewhere all your life but still not knowing all its history...

5th grade Deja has lived in New York her whole life. Now that Deja has officially become homeless, life is tough. Deja is now starting a new school, and shes not the most popular, although she does meet a couple of friends. She has now just noticed though, the skyline looks different from before, the two towers are missing. She is confused by this, but it seems as every time she tries to bring it up, everyone gets mad or sad.

Recommended for people who like books about friendship.

The Odyssey

The Odyssey, one of the world's classics, is about the travels and troubles of Odysseus. Familiar with Greek mythology? You know who I'm talking about.
However, this book is called an epic poem for a reason. The poem itself is 485 pages long, and the plot is complicated. So I do not recommend this book to you unless you think you can handle it, because it is kind of a difficult read.
This book does have some language.

I rate this book 3.5 stars, just because it is a difficult read.

She's Mexican american and she officially can't exist

Related imageI read My sister's copy of Someone like me and it all about this Mexican American girl named Julissa Arce. She was born in a bathroom and got tangled up in her umbilical cord and now her mother cannot have any other babies. When she was six, her parents started selling jewelry in America.  When she was seven, most of her parent's jewelry got stolen when they were eating lunch. Then when she was ten, her mother had another baby. Julissa now had 2 older sisters and one younger brother. After that, she moved to America with her mom and dad.  Her dad started to abuse her by hitting her with something until it broke. They became super poor because her dad drunk 10 cans of beer every night. They have to move to a different state and Julissa wants to have a quinceanera but her family does not have the money. Her dad gets arrested because he abused Julissa and her mom and now she and her mom can't go back to Mexico, because Julissa was only using a two-year guest permit to live in America but now that it has expired, she will get killed if the police find out about her. she needs to keep a low profile, get into college, and become an actual American citizen.

I recomend this book to people who like young adult books and people who like diverse non-americans.

A homeless girls perspective...

Towers falling
Image result for towers falling
Towers Falling is about a girl that is homeless that lives in Avalon. The girl's name is Deja. She is new to Brooklyn, New York, she just moved there and she is in a new school. She finds these 2 people name Ben and Sabeen both of them weren't born in New York. Ben is from Arizona. In the book I don't think it says where Sabeen is from. In her new school she starts learn about 9/11 but Deja knows nothing about it. One day she goes to Ben's house and Deja watches 9/11 and she goes home and asks her parents about it and her dad gets mad because she is "too young".

I recommend this book for people who aren't into much action or drama because this is a slow going book and that there is no action.

Lightning Lu

Image result for lu the bookThe book Lu by Jason Reynolds is the fourth book in the Ghost series. This book is about the last member of the Newbies on the track team this year. He gets the name Lighting Lu from his mom because he is fast as lightning and rare as lightning striking the same place twice because he is, albino. This story perfectly finishes up the series and ties all the loose ends from the cliff hangers in past books. I would 5/5 recommend reading the WHOLE series along with this book for people who like some humor, friendship but not the cheesy kind, and series.

Image result for out of my mind bookI just read out of my mind by Sharon M. Draper.  poor melody can't speak, move or even go to the bathroom on her own!  When she gets a Miditaker,  she becomes someone else.  She tries out for the national whiz kids team.  She is super smart and can't share any of her thoughts.  Just when things start to get good, something really sad happens.  She makes one friend, Rose, but is she really her true friend?  Is she actually smart enough to make the whiz kids team?  Will she ever be able to express her feelings like others?  I would recomend this book to people who like sad stories and people who read about disabilities and how they work through them. Image result for 5 stars
